The traffic volume on NC 147 is significant. Average daily traffic counts by segment:

I-85 across Durham carries 100,000-110,000 per day now between 15-501 and US 70.

The opening of I-885 will shift some traffic away from the freeway to I-85, but a significant volume of locally-generated traffic will remain.
