Durham eliminated parking minimums yesterday (Nov 20th). Starting a new topic to discuss this and related things going forward.

It's a very exciting time for Durham! Hopefully we see a tangible impact on the old police station designs. I also hope this sparks the Northgate Mall developers to rethink their vision of the project (I'm sure it wont, but I'll still be optimistic)

One aspect that doesn't get talked about much is that it may enable/encourage smaller units. Developers may have an easier time convincing a bank that Studios/1-Bedrooms don't need much parking, whereas the financing of a 3-bedroom units with parking below the previous minimums might be tougher.
