I work in an office at the American Tobacco campus and I took some pictures on March 27, 2019. These are a bit out of date but we can compare them for some progress pictures later.
I drive up Roxboro every morning on my way to work, and have loved seeing these go up. I am not a fan of the attached parking garage, but oh well.
It will be great to see the Lennar Project go up next door, and I still have my fingers crossed the phase 2 of that will have a commercial tower, though Lennar said it is no longer in the plans, because the people who were going to build it bought the venable Center and are buildign a tower there. Regardless hopefully there is some height.
American Tobacco Part 2 will finish off the whole area! Heard some rumors there is going to be a couple of "towers" on that site, and should be announced soon.
This is awesome - thanks for posting these photos, Sean!
AT2 will be really interesting. When I have spoken to people at Capital Broadcasting, they have mentioned that it will definitely be more integrated into the rest of the urban landscape as a part of a walkable downtown that feels connected to the other developments (Broadstone, BB&T renovation, Willard St Apartments, etc).
A couple of towers with retail at ground level would certainly fit that description.
strange these show up sideways..... I only have this problem with this forum for some reason. I don't see a way to edit the photo in the forum.
Anyways the closer building is Van Allen and the building still under construction is 555. The Van Allen building has 0 street level retail (I think this sucks... as there is a huge block with nothing on it). The 555 building should have street level retail... at least the plans call for it.
I also am not sure about the new parking deck... it would be awesome if this is more modern parking deck with street retail. The entire sidewalk is closed off so I can't easily go explore.
