Unfortunately it looks like they are going to take the path of least resistance here. There is a new development request for the main portion of the mall site (excluding what appears to be the portion with Sears and the shops with Planet Fitness etc) which is titled “Ellerbe Square” and described as proposed buildings for retail and restaurants. So this is basically going to be Brier Creek if it moves forward and it wouldn’t seem to require any rezoning approval.
