The best way to avoid a NIMBY fight is to identify, recruit, and mobilize pro-project allies first. If people believe most of their fellow citizens support a development proposal, they are less likely to voice opposition to it. It is human nature: We do not want to be unpopular with our neighbors.

That's a very good point. One of the things I am trying to do with this blog is to spell out popular urbanist ideas in very straightforward language as they relate to Durham.

The hope is that maybe someday, neighbors can either share these posts or use their talking points to accomplish exactly what you outlined.
